The Sunyani Stakeholders for Development Association has lamented over the lack of development in the city.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Association at the Eusbett Hotel, the Chairman of the association expressed worry over how Sunyani is lagging behind when it comes to development.
Irrespective of the the rapid expansion of Sunyani, the Chairman averred the infrastructural development has not been commensurate with its growth when compared to other cities in the country.
He stressed that this has been the concern of all the stakeholders.
“We have two main leadership entities in Sunyani which are the political leadership and the Traditional leadership and these two entities have to complement each other to push the development agenda of Sunyani to an appreciable level since all indicators point to the fact that Sunyani lags behind in terms of development.
“In order to strengthen the efforts of Sunyani Traditional Council towards its contribution to the development of Sunyani and it has become necessary for the think tank to support, advice, guide and also facilitate the activities of the Sunyani Traditional Council for accelerated development of Sunyani,” the Chairman of Sunyani Stakeholders for Development Association explained.
He added: “It is on this note that the Sunyani Traditional Council decided to bring together personalities from various disciplines, professional, the business community and civil society to form the Sunyani stakeholders for development Association to serve as the backbone of the Traditional Council for the needed accelerated development of Sunyani.”
The Chairman further stated that the Association is made up of personalities who are committed to the welfare, interest and development of Sunyani and Brong Ahafo in general.
